UK focuses on the premium Private Label

Two UK retailers, Waitrose and Co-op, are expanding their premium lines. Waitrose has added 100 new products to the Waitrose 1 premium range, bringing the total number of SKUs to around 600. This decision was based on the success of the premium line, which experienced 19% growth in the first half of the year.


Co-op is launching a premium range called Irresistible, which will initially consist of around 350 products in 35 categories. The retailer’s aim is to generate 10% of its Private Label sales in three years with this line.
